I recently read this line, written by a teacher called Mastin Kipp. He says;
‘We date at the level of our self-esteem. Your relationship is a direct reflection of your own self-love and self-worth.’
I pondered this. It seems to have certainly been the case for me. From my experience, we as humans are constantly teaching those around us how we deserve to be treated – and we are sending this silent message out to people through one main form of communication.
How we treat ourselves.
Self-love and self-worth. This is something that comes up over and over again. When it comes to our relationships with others, this is where it begins. When we talk about having a healthy foundation within a relationship, the work starts first in creating a healthy foundation within ourselves. If your own foundation is crumbling or weak, how can we expect to have a solid and wonderful relationship structure with others?
There are thousands of techniques that I can give you to increase self love. But If I were to choose one, it is the following. It only takes one minute of your time each day, and I’m guessing that surely you have that for yourself?
This technique came up as homework in one of The Awaken Series classes. Reports back from the students were profound. Some described their surprise that as simple as this technique is, it was harder emotionally than they expected. Which immediately pinpointed just how much they had been neglecting their beautiful selves.
Every morning. For one minute. Take yourself to the mirror. Look into your own eyes. Internally repeat the statement; I love you.
That’s right. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.
Watch what happens next. Watch your immediate reaction/resistance. Watch what happens over time. Watch your relationship with yourself transform.
Do this everyday for 30 days. Mark it on your calendar. And let us know how you went!
With so much love,
Emma
